This project request is for Mr. Antony to help his son Nithin Antony buy a pickup van to support his family. Antony is a heart patient who has undergone two surgeries in the past 17 years. Two years ago, he had bypass surgery to open blood supply to both of his legs at the Thrissur Amala Hospital. Also, he has been treated at other hospitals for an upset stomach and difficulty in eating. Now he is undergoing treatment at Lisie Hospital, Ernakulam. The tests conducted there showed a tumor in his stomach and that cannot be removed because of his heart problem. With fear and trembling, they are awaiting the biopsy result, which could indicate cancer. He has difficulty drinking water or swallowing food.
Antony has three children Nithin, Nima, and Nimmi. Nithin studied up to B. Com and could not pursue further studies because he has to look after his two sisters who are studying, and his bedridden Dad. Antony needs Rs. 5000 per month to buy medicine. They have a total of 47 cents of land (half an acre), but they have no income from it. Medical treatment was paid for by mortgaging the land to the bank. Making both ends meet is a challenge for them. Nithin has a license to drive.
A pickup vehicle will enable him to support his family in India where they live. He will be able to work for farmers carrying cardamom, tea, bananas, and other agricultural products to market. He will be able to use his income to buy food and other necessities, to pay medical expenses, and to keep his sisters in their school.
