Shruti is 35-year-old woman from Kannur, Kerala, who’s diagnosed with a heart condition that needs immediate treatment. Her heart valves need to be replaced, which requires an open hearts surgery. She’s married and mother of an eight-year-old girl. She used to work as a midwife (ANM) at a local hospital close to her house but currently stopped working due to her health issues.

Shruti is a patient of Amrita medical college, Cochin at this time. Her cardiologist recommends the surgery to be scheduled within 2-3 weeks, which costs approximately $6500 USD (INR 4.5 lakhs). Her family has come up about 50% of the money at this time and is eagerly looking for additional help. Her husband, who’s the only breadwinner of the house, works at a private company makes just enough income that they can get by.
