Priyanka Mary Jose has successfully completed her first year of BSc Nursing at Ambika Nursing & Paramedical Institutions in Bengaluru, Karnataka — a college affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Her second-year classes begin September 1, but she cannot continue without clearing her fees. The payment deadline, already extended once, falls on August 29, and missing it risks late fines or losing her place in the program.
Priyanka needs ₹2.5 lakh (approximately $3,000 USD) to pay this fee and move forward into her second year without interruption.
Her Story: Priyanka’s mother, Nimmy Jose, has raised her four children largely on her own for the past decade after being abandoned by her husband. Nimmy lives with epilepsy and arthritis — conditions that have taken a serious toll on her health and ruled out steady, physically demanding work. To support her family, she built a small makeshift stall next to their rented home in Thuthiyoor, Kerala, where she cooks and sells food. Even with that effort, the income barely covers daily needs, let alone rent, medical costs, and her children’s education. The family now also faces pressure from their landlord over unpaid rent and lives with real uncertainty about their housing. Nimmy has reached out to government offices for help over several years without receiving assistance.
Despite this hardship, all four of her children have been strong students. Priyanka has already shown she can succeed in a demanding nursing program — she completed her first year. Nursing offers her a direct path to a stable career and the ability to support her family for years to come. What she needs now is the chance to continue, without a fee deadline standing in her way.
