Dear Friends,
My friend came to the U.S. in 2022 on a student visa to pursue a Master’s degree, which they completed in December 2023. In 2023, their family joined them on dependent visas. Early in 2024, they began working, and their employer sponsored their H1B visa, which was set to take effect in October 2024. However, just one month before the H1B status became active, they were laid off, leaving their family in a difficult position. With the deactivation of their visas and the loss of income, they faced significant challenges.
By early 2025, they managed to regain their visas and work permits, but despite ongoing efforts, they have struggled to secure employment. Financially, they’ve relied on the generosity of others, but the situation remains challenging. They now face the urgent need to vacate their current apartment, as they cannot renew the lease without a stable job. They plan to continue their job search for two more months while allowing their child to finish the school year. Unfortunately, they lack sufficient funds to sustain their living expenses and address their education loan repayments during this time.
Any assistance during this critical period would be deeply appreciated and would provide much-needed relief for their family.
